Is Christianity Doomed?

Happy Sunday. In the book of Matthew, we're told that right after Jesus was crucified, he was placed in a tomb that was owned by Joseph of Arya. At the request of the chief priests and Pharisees, Pilate placed Roman guards at the tomb. The reason those who crucified Jesus remembered that he said that he would rise from the dead in three days.

And they wanted the tomb guarded to stop Jesus's disciples from stealing the body and making up some story that Jesus did in fact rise from the dead. As you know, Jesus did in fact rise from the dead. And at the resurrection, the guards who were at the tomb were they all fainted as if they were dead when they woke up. Matthew tells us this in chapter 28.

Some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priest all the things that had happened. When they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, saying, "Tell people his disciples came at night and stole him away while we were asleep." Now, this lie from 2,000 years ago was designed to stamp out Christianity. And as you know, the truth won out.

Today's verse from Proverbs is found in chapter 21:30. There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord. One more time. There's no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.

Over the years, people have tried to deny the story of Christ. People have tried to dis disprove the Bible. Try as they might, the forces of darkness will not prevail. On the 8th of April 1966, Time magazine, its front cover, posed the question, "Is God dead?"

This idea was from a movement years ago that truly thought that God was no more. In my lifetime, I've heard skeptics argue that there is no God. People attack the story of creation from Genesis. People attack the virgin birth and the resurrection of g of Jesus.

People attacked all the miracles of Christ. Christianity is and forever will be under attack. Back to the words from Proverbs 21:30. There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.

This is a spiritual battle between good and evil that will be waged until God decides to return and set things straight. Until then, this world will be in turmoil. Have you noticed in your lifetime how Christianity is mocked and ridiculed and attacked in the media while Islam is defended and even promoted? Why is that happening?

Well, Satan's doing his best to try and erase Christianity. He has lots of help in this world. But please remember there is no wisdom, there is no insight, there is no plan that can succeed against the Lord. This battle is described in Psalm chapter 2.

It begins with this question, verse one of Psalm 2. Why do the nations conspire and the people plot in vain? Why do the nations conspire and the people plot in vain? After that question, this observation is made in verses 2 and three.

The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed saying, "Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles." This psalm psalm is so relevant. It reads as if it were fresh freshly written. And these words are 3,000 years old.

The battle is not new. The conspiracy continues. I love verses four, five, and six from Psalm 2. There we see God's response to those who were against him.

There we are told, "The one enthroned in heaven laughs. The Lord scoffs at them. He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,"I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain." Is there need to worry?

Is Christianity doomed? I think not. Let me share these words from Romans chapter 14. For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.

And it is written, "As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me and every tongue shall give praise to God." Back to the truth found in Proverbs 21:30. There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can that can succeed against the Lord. You know, I almost skipped doing a verse in the 21st chapter of Proverbs.

Lord, it's a crazy world. And help us to remember that you are almighty God and that no matter what goes on around us, that you are there on your throne and that ultimately every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Help that to be at the forefront of our minds in Jesus name I pray. Amen.
